Each painting by Marie-Amélie Chéreau is an offering — a space where light, memory, and the invisible converge.

 

Rooted in lyrical symbolism, her work exists at the intersection of abstraction and spiritual transmission. Her approach to layered matter is central to her practice. Movement, texture, and colour intertwine with an intentional language of signs, creating inner landscapes shaped by fragility, resilience, silence, and transformation.

 

Every canvas begins with writing — an intimate script, often in an invented language, laid down before the first stroke of colour. These inscriptions seal the destiny of the work, setting an invisible pulse beneath the surface. Covered by successive layers of oil paint, they remain hidden from view, perhaps to reappear with time, as the painting continues its own silent dialogue with the world.

 

Her artistic journey is a continuum. Each series is both a chapter and a bridge, building upon the last and moving toward a vision that slowly reveals itself — a search for unity that runs through her entire body of work.
